Here are just a few of the things school board members are responsible for:
Creating budgets to increase school counselors
Providing resources for low-income students to have reliable access to their educational electronic device like a computer or tablet
Helping enact school policy that allows for safe reopening of schools. That includesmaintaining physical distance within classroom settings, encouraging wearing a facemask, promoting hygiene, and limiting the number of students and staff present.
Identifying curriculums that are reflective of true American History and inclusive of allpeople
Helping ensure that school policy permits students to express their support for therespect, equal treatment, and acceptance of the LGBTQ community
Ending disciplinary practices which force children out of school (i.e. reporting them to law enforcement agencies)
Transforming classrooms into inclusive spaces for children of color and children with disabilities
Ensuring there are ways for parents to enroll students that do not have a valid government-issued ID
